Basic image transformations — rotating a portrait photo taken sideways, flipping a composition for a mirror effect, cropping to a specific aspect ratio, or resizing to a target dimension — are everyday tasks for web developers, content creators, and photographers. Our browser-based image transform tool handles all four operations with precision and correctly manages EXIF metadata, which is critical for photos from digital cameras and smartphones.

Rotation supports exact degree input (0–360°) for precise orientation correction, not just 90° increments. Flip operations provide horizontal mirror and vertical flip. Cropping supports freehand selection or locked aspect ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, 2:3, and custom). Resizing accepts target width and height with optional aspect ratio lock, and supports percentage-based scaling as well as specific pixel dimensions.

Crucially, the tool reads and strips EXIF orientation tags — many images from smartphones appear correctly rotated in photo apps but are stored at 0° in the file with an EXIF orientation tag telling viewers to rotate them. This tool applies the EXIF rotation physically to the image data and removes the tag, ensuring consistent display across all platforms including browsers, email clients, and CMS uploads that ignore EXIF data.

Photos from iPhones, Android phones, and DSLRs often contain an EXIF orientation metadata tag that instructs apps to display the image rotated, rather than physically storing the pixels in the correct orientation. Many web platforms (including some browsers and CMS uploads) ignore this tag, causing images to appear sideways or upside-down. The transform tool reads the EXIF orientation, physically rotates the image pixels to match, then strips the orientation tag — ensuring your image displays correctly everywhere, regardless of EXIF support.
